Overview
The Kaslo Volunteer Fire Department was founded in 1892. The original fire hall, now known as the VHKAS Thrift Store, was in use from 1898 until 1971, when a fire hall was built beside the City Hall. That structure is now gone and a Legacy Park has taken its place. The Kaslo & Area Emergency Services Centre at 529 Arena Avenue opened in 2015. The latest fire hall is also the hub of training and administration for Kaslo Search & Rescue (KSAR) and Emergency Support Services (ESS).

Fire Protection Boundaries
Fire protection extends from the Village of Kaslo to:
- 10 km north, past Shutty Bench on Hwy 31
- 8 km west to South Fork on Hwy 31A
- 13 km south to Ainslo Road
- We also provide fire response through mutual aid with Balfour/Harrop Fire Department to the communities of Woodbury Village and Ainsworth)
